I am a cat stalker. It's true. I met 'Fangs' the first few days that we moved into the neighbourhood. He was so friendly and he has these huge front teeth hence the nick name Fangs. It turns out that Fangs' real name is actually Smokey and I now call him Smokeroo. Well... I thought that Smokeroo had moved away, but looks like he goes on summer vacation with his owners (lucky cat!). I was so happy to see that he had returned!

He lives in this massive shared house with another cat and a dog. Every time I walk past the house (which is pretty much everyday), I check for him. I'm sure the residents think I'm crazy. Anyways, these pictures were taken last week, so I leave you with some snapshots of my walk across the bridge into Downtown.

I am becoming more confident on my bike - Yay! I definitely need a lighter bike though. I swear that half the battle is dragging that thing in and out of the bike storage. Summer is almost over though (sorry, but its true!) so maybe I will start looking next year. Is there such a thing as a light cruiser? Dream bike would be nothing too girly coloured, a basket in the front, easy step over and be super light.

I never learned how to ride a bike as a kid. I'm chinese, so we didn't spend that much time playing outside to begin with. I also grew up in an older, gated community in Shaughnessy, so I didn't have many kids to play with. As an only child, I had to entertain myself. I did have a tricycle when I was super small. I think it was blue.

pride parade

Sunday was spent at the Pride Parade. Where have I been!? This is my first time at the Pride Parade and it was amazing. Rob had to man the BCPWA booth in the morning so I tagged along and helped him set up. The set up process was a little crazy with cars driving up everywhere and some rental confusion, but everything worked out.

Since the market and food area was situated at the end of the Parade route, we really didn't get to see much of the parade itself. Nonetheless, it was so much fun. Here is a picture of the BCPWA booth with the AIDS ribbon balloons they were handing out:




So what was there to do if I missed the parade? Well... I went to visit Carlie at the Portobello West tent right across from us, I visited with David C. Jones who was the MC for the VanCity main stage, I got a free eyebrow waxing, was rubbed down in sparkle lotion from the Biotherm man, received a free t-shirt from the CTV tent, received free razors, received free gum from the Milestones tent, spoke to the Earth Save man, met the friendly folks at the Fringe Fest tent, checked out the Avon tent and I met Bruce Lee (pictured below) from the Asia tent. I had so much fun!



I did see some of the early paraders and wished that I took some photos of their outrageous costumes. Unfortunately, by that time, I was too focused on having lunch. I will leave you with another pretty shot of English Bay.

Sorry (again) for the lack of posts. Tis the season I guess. We just finished a 3 event weekend last weekend. They were all corporate events, so no photos to show. We find that weddings all have beautiful photos from professional photographers, but when it comes to corporate events, they rarely have a professional photographer on-site. When they do have a photographer, all they ever shoot are the guests. What about the details!?

I took some of my own from the corporate bbq and fireworks night on Saturday, but they turned out horrible. I'm too embarrassed to upload them. Too bad though, there was a lot of fun gingham linens that night!

August is going to be a busy one! Lately I feel like I am going from one final walk through to the next. All good stuff though :) Don't get me wrong ... it isn't all work around here. I did spend the morning making this:

garden update

We have eggplant, cucumbers, stevia (natural sugar plant), lavender, celery, spinach and tomatoes on one end. On the seed side, we have beets, radishes and lettuce.

Email seems to be broken, so I have to use our webmail which seems so generic. Sorry for the generic looking emails this morning.

PS. Congrats Blue Olives! It was a tight race! It needs a good sanding and stain, but feel free to come pick it up next week.
