Wedding Gallery - part one

My last session at the Special Event Show was the Wedding Gallery at the Hard Rock Cafe. The gallery was absolutely stunning, but again, with most displays, it also seems that people have an infinite amount of money to work with!

The cake room was very dark and cameras were not allowed (but everybody kept snapping pictures). Here is a sample of the Cake Gallery.

Table Top Challenge

Each participant had a $1000 budget to show off their skills and design the table top of their dreams. Here are some of the entries from this years' tradeshow floor.

Did you notice the "corn" napkin? How clever!

Marie Antoinette inspired

Jungle themed

This is not a table top entry, but I loved the set up and the colours!

This was a booth display from Chameleon Chair. They have some of the most beautiful rental chairs and covers that I have ever seen!

We bumped into Colin and Jay from Upright Decor as well as Rhonda from Pedersens on the trade show floor. Maybe we will see some fancy new items added to their rental catalogue ? :D The pictures were a little hurried as picture taking was a no no :I

Tomorrow is our last day in San Diego before we fly back to Seattle Friday morning. I have tons of pictures that I will post from the Wedding Gallery that we attended at the Hard Rock Cafe as well as our adventures to Balboa Park and Coronado Beach.

San Diego - Day 3

Our session today starts at 5pm, so we thought we would go and discover what San Diego is all about.

First stop... Little Italy where we enjoyed some coffee and watched some planes go by.

Then back on the trolley and over to Old Town where we enjoyed some Mexican food and a stroll through the Old Historic Park.

I'm not really a plant person as I usually end up killing them, but I am in love with all of the wonderful plants that just grow naturally in San Diego. Here are some pictures that I took today.

Wild Poinsettias?

More birds of paradise.

San Diego

We are in San Diego until Friday for the Special Event Show. Both of us signed up for a handful of seminars from audio visual to design to linens to panel discussions about 10,000 people events. I have not been to San Diego for over 19 years. Crazy eh? Tomorrow is all about the trade show and the wedding gallery event!

Birds of Paradise, sun, palm trees.... I thought it would be warmer, but I'm not going to complain. I hear that it is snowing in Vancouver. Do you know what else? There are pelicans here! I love pelicans!

This is from a session that I participated in this afternoon called Art of Fabrication which talked about making your own props. The team that made these centerpieces were absolutely amazing. This centerpiece is basically spray paint and installation board. Unfortunately, I don't think I have any clients in Vancouver that will pay $395 for a centerpiece :D

Oh where... oh where could we possibly be? There is a clue if you take a close look.

Happy Chinese New Year

(taken from Seattle's Chinatown yesterday)

2009 is the year of the Ox. The Ox is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. This powerful sign is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. As one might guess, such people are dependable, calm, and modest. Like their animal namesake, the Ox is unswervingly patient, tireless in their work, and capable of enduring any amount of hardship without complaint.

Positive Traits Responsible, dependable, honest, caring, honourable, intelligent, artistic, industrious, practical
Negative Traits Petty, inflexible, possessive, dogmatic, gullible, stubborn, critical, intolerant, materialistic

Ps. Yes, that is snow in the last picture.

the stuff I make

100% wool apple cozies - no more bruising!

I needed product photos pronto last week for a few things including my bio page on the Craft Mafia website (not up yet). I had a few weeks to get them done and tried to take some pictures during the brief moments that the sun was out, but it just wasn't happening. Indie I Do was quickly approaching as well, so I kept saying that I would worry about it after the event. Well, the event ended and I had 5 days - Eeep! This is where M&R from Blue Olive Photography (with their assistants Luna and Darwin) came in.

Everything turned out gorgeous! Thank you! Thank you!

Indie I Do was not only the first time we produced a wedding show, but it was the first time that we participated in a wedding show! I have to admit, there was some panic and drama regarding the display, but all's well that ends well.

Inspiration.. Vintage, clean, simple, DIY, thrift / upcycle, spring
