Nu
We first learned about this restaurant in December, when one of our friends chose the location for her wedding reception. Shortly after discovering this gem, we were invited down for a tasting. After many schedule conflicts, we finally made it and it was definitely worth the wait!
If you haven't gone here... Nu is a fantastic venue for a cocktail or sit down reception. The food is delicious, the service is amazing and the restaurant is beautiful. Overall, a great afternoon out on the water.
We headed to the Heritage Hall afterwards to do some layout logistics. Rob was in deep thought when I snapped the photo.. hee hee.

fabric insanity
I bought so much fabric in Portland. I'm not sure what I am going to do with everything or when I have the time to do anything. Right now, I am pretty content on just looking at them.
The pictures are pretty much a mix of knitten kitten thrift store finds, cool cottons, bolt and a few online purchases.
I'm off to give them a wash.
Enjoy :)
Happy Valentine's Day!

Bumble Bee
super cool oil cloth.. look closely though.. do you see the bicycling skeletons in the mirachi hats?
If your name is Steph Gibson, please stop reading NOW! :)
I found this gorgeous vintage yellow and black scarf down at the vintage place in Portland. That place is crazy! We went back there again to look at some vintage Golden Books for one of our got craft vendors and got sucked back into the maze. I swear, you could get lost in there and nobody could find you for days! Anyways, the scarf is going to be a wedding present for Steph and Paul who are getting married on August 30th at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.
I am so inspired by them right now. The have chosen canary yellow and black to be their wedding colours. How cool is that!? I love it! I love it so much that it has inspired me to buy this cool oil cloth that I found at Bolt in Portland. I'm going to make myself a super cute sewing machine cover.
cream puff
This two blog thing is hard! If you want to read about our Portland trip then go check out the got craft website. We had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back down (although my wallet can sure wait!). I spent way too much on fabric, but it was way cheaper than buying it online. However, three days off and I am as exhausted as before we left.
Made a visit to Daiso again this morning :| I love that place. Our kitchen table currently looks like Japan threw up all over it.
Since we were got there pretty much when it opened, Beard Papa's wasn't sold out of everything and we finally tried a green tea cream puff. It was ok. Rob liked it a lot more than I did (we shared one). I am waiting for the milk tea flavour to arrive!

happy new year!
Lion dances are my absolute favourite (the lettuce is the best!). They are just so much fun! A few years back when I went to San Francisco with my girlfriend, we saw a few lion dances on the street in Chinatown. I think there was a store opening nearby. My girlfriend, not growing up Asian, went a little crazy when the fireworks went off and she literally was pushing me to the ground because she thought there was a shoot out :)
When Rob and I were dating many years ago, I took him down to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year parade and he got struck in the forehead with a firecracker. He was fine.. just a little shocked. The firecracker left a nice red mark on his forehead. Seeeeeee.... lion dances are exciting!
Some shots from Aberdeen Mall this afternoon.
Wishing you long life and prosperity!

sniffles
I felt the tickle last Thursday and was down for the count by Friday. It seems like everybody is sick lately!
I spent most of the weekend in bed playing DS, watching TV and basically taking it easy. I crocheted a lot. I made dishcloths. Crazy! People swear by these cotton cloths and I always get asked if I have them at fairs. So I whipped up a few (okay, 15 actually) for May's events. They are even double ply and come in pretty colours!
Made a trip to Dressew today and picked up some rick rack. I'm not sure what to do with them, but they are so pretty.

Look at these beautiful buttons that Lindsay and Nic at the Mustache Press is doing up for our craft fair!!
Now, Rob has to let me buy the gocco machine and print out some nice specialty postcards for the buttons to sit on :)
